As you guys know I was in Jaipur in the summer breaks, here’s a post on few places i visited and what i wore for this short stay cation in this fascinating city JAIPUR....

Brace Yourself as it is going to be a long post with lots of pictures......

Hilltop forts, regal palaces, vibrant bazaars, bright turbans, camel carts, heritage hotels, bandhini sarees, pyaaz kachoris, and true blue Rajasthani hospitality. Such is the charm of the Pink City, Jaipur. If you live in Delhi or Agra, you’ve probably been to Jaipur for a weekend break at least once. If you haven’t, then well, you must go now! A fascinating city, it’s got different stories tucked in every corner waiting to be explored.

We were there for only 2 days and so we decided to make the most out of it in these days. Due to short of time we left for the city tour first, just after our lunch. It was a long 6 hours road trip from Delhi to Jaipur and all of us were completely exhausted....So we decided to order our lunch in our hotel room itself and enjoy it while viewing the beautiful city from the room.

With only a weekend marked for Jaipur, we had a lot to cover. Here’s how we got the best of Jaipur in two days. Instead of just rushing through to all the sights, we planned to explore few of them which was first in our list......

First we went to the Amber Fort..Amber, if you recall from the film Jodha Akbar, is Aishwarya Rai’s hometown before she marries Hrithik Roshan.Bollywood trivia aside, this beautiful fort is of great historical significance and is a must-do on any Jaipur itinerary.Next up on our agenda was a quick stopover at the gorgeous Jal Mahal or the ‘Water Palace’ in the middle of the Mansagar Lake.Jal Mahal, a palace half submerged in water. We were excited about the photo-op here, having seen hypnotic photos of the Jal Mahal bathed in a blue and golden light, floating in the lake. Unfortunately, the sorry state of this structure, was worth just a view, nothing more.

At Amber Fort

At Jal Mahal

Weather was too hot and so we decided to come back to our hotel before we headed towards the next destination...After full day City Tour, our stomachs were rumbling and we decided to go for a scrumptious & Royal meal at Chokhi Dhaani as advised by the locals...The place is just away from the hustle of the city center where nature is alive, natural scenic views are ready to serve you and where you can feel the fresh air of Indian rustic villages. Chokhi Dhani is a concept capturing the vibrant spirit of Rajasthan and ensuring a perfect Rajasthani experience. Inbound and native tourists have a desire to experience the unique Rajasthani culture. The real Rajasthan, the villages, the paintings, Bani Thani art, the wall decorations, Dipak wall, the fresh air, the evening performances, the enthusiasm, the 'manuhar' (a delicate request to eat till your heart’s desire), the traditions, the costumes and at last but not least the Feelings.

Day 2....At Hawa Mahal and the Local Markets....

The next day, we retraced our touristy trail and went to one of the most well-known attractions of Jaipur – the Hawa Mahal. The beautiful façade of the palace lends itself to brilliant photo opps. Had heard alot about Bapu bazaar so we decided to take it easy and explore the market. Spoilt for choice, we bargained our way around the market and bought a hell lot of stuff earrings, lac bangles, leather juttis, colourful bandhini suits, sarees, dupattas We had heard about the shopping at Johri Bazaar as well but alas! Time was short and we had to move on.

We had the option of using the next day / Day 3 too to see other places but we opted out of it and decided to rather chill at the hotel itself. But if you want to explore more, here are a few options in the city and some around like a few hours drive, that you can check out:

  • Jaigarh Fort

  • City Palace

  • Jantar Mantar

  • Nahargarh Fort

  • Birla Temple

Coming to the outfit! With so much walking around and places to see, I obviously wanted to wear something comfortable, also nothing too revealing because one can’t predict the crowd at such touristy places in India, without having to compromise on style! I wore a Black maxi Dress from HnM India with a Stradivarius Denim Jacket and A long Skirt with a bandi which i bought from Delhi Local Market Janpat ....Second Day i was again in Navy Blue Dress with a Kimono from HnM with most comfy shoes from Call it Spring.. I loved the colourful handbag with mirror work the most in this outfit because it gave a traditional look in my entire tour. I tried to keep my outfit really simple and elegant. You can shop this look very easily and in budget....

I will be back soon with many more blogs ...Stay Tuned
